'Bikes-on-call' is situated within the local area of La Safor, which runs from Oliva in the south to Tavernes de la Valldigna in the north. From the stunning sandy beaches to the rugged mountains, with lush fertile valleys in between, this area is one of great contrast.
Within the province of Valencia on the Costa del Azahar / Orange blossom coast, lies the nearest town of Gandia. Just 65 Km south of Valencia and 116 Km from Alicante. Enjoy the monumental buildings and history dating back to the Borgias, as well as broad sweeping beaches, well renowned for their cleanliness and having recently being awarded the Blue Flag.
There are numerous circuits for you to enjoy by bike - such as 'Raco del Duc' and 'La Cim de Safor'. Several mountains surround Gandia with Montduver mountain (841m) at la Drova, rewarding you with magnificent views of the surrounding area.
Some 10 Kms south of Gandia lies the market town of Oliva. Smaller than Gandia, most shops lie off the main paseo. Once again there are vast stretches of long sandy beaches and there is a great coastal route linking the two towns together that is good for cycling.
To the south of Oliva lies the natural park of Oliva-Pego, which is an area abundant with fauna and vegetation. Very popular with birdwatchers, the park with its fresh water and mild microclimate is ideal for migratory birds. You can find the duck 'Coll Verd', with green chest and neck, quail, painted pullet, the heron, little stork and many more.
Within the La Safor region, there are numerous rural guesthouses as well as hotels and campsites. From budget to five star quality, there is something to suit all tastes and pockets.
La Safor is an area abundant with orange groves providing many meandering tracks and beautiful views. With a typical mediterranean climate there are around three thousand hours of sunshine here each year. We call it, our small piece of paradise!
